  • CrossFit looks scary and unfamiliar

We know that most people will not have done gymnastics, Olympic Weightlifting, barbell, or kettlebell skills before. We will teach you how to do everything we need you to do. Our expert coaches are all experienced at teaching beginners safe progressions. The benefits of these whole body or compound movements make them worth learning.

  • Where are you?

We have 2 locations: Maps are under the locations tab on the main site navigation. CrossFit Vauxhall. Unit 15-16, Railway Arch, Miles Street, Vauxhall, SW8 1RZ. CFV is about 5 minutes away from Vauxhall Station (underground, mainline and bus station) CrossFit Central London. 57 Ewer St, London SE1 0NR. CFCL Is conveniently sited between Waterloo and London Bridge Stations, about four minutes walk south of Tate Modern. About four minutes walk from Southwark tube (Jubilee line). About 10 minutes walk from Borough tube (Northern line). About 10 minutes walk from Blackfriars station (we are the closest CrossFit gym to Blackfriars station).

  • Will I lose weight?

Weight is a loaded word. Lets talk body composition instead. Will your body composition change? Yes if you’re training the way we program for you and start eating the way we recommend. How much fat you’ll drop, what your body changes will look like depends on a number of factors, including your genetics, what you’re training for, how often you’re training, how strictly you’re sticking to your eating plan, how often you go off piste with your eating or drinking. Everyone is different, but the beauty of the way we do business is you’ll learn shopping and eating skills and habits that are easy to keep going for the rest of your life. You may not lose much weight (scale weight), but it is typical to drop many waist or dress sizes and keep it off.

A great example of this is Brian, one of the owners of CrossFit Central London: He started training CrossFit and eating proper food. He  dropped from a 40″ waist to a 32″ and from 104Kg to 73Kg. Almost 10 years later, his body weight has not varied more than a couple of Kg up or down, which is amazing considering how much it used to yo-yo.”

  • Can you help me with nutrition?

You can’t out train a poor diet. Nutrition is the bottom of the pyramid that leads to wellness and fitness.

The Incubator will introduce you to the small step by step changes you can make to improve your nutrition and lifestyle.

At the end of the incubator, you will have a meeting with a qualified nutrition coach who will discuss and assess your needs.

We run a comprehensive nutrition program (like our CrossFit and Personal Training Programs) combines behavioural change with achievement to create habits that will last a LIFETIME. No shakes, nothing short-term.

Stage one is get a plan.
Stage two is accountability and making change happen

  • What does it cost?

Check out the pricing page under the info tab

  • What’s the cancellation policy?

Our coaches are professionals, their time is precious and limited. If you cancel a session with more than 24 hours before the session, we will refund you 50% of the purchase cost of that session, this allows us to pay the coach as they have set that time slot aside for you in their diary and it is unlikely they will be able to fill it again. If you cancel a session with less than 24 hours notice, then there is no refund. Sorry.

  • What’s the booking policy?

All classes must be booked in and paid for on the membership system at least 24 hours in advance, this prevents mix ups and double bookings or the coach turning up for a session that hasn’t been booked or paid for. If you session is booked on the system, you and the coach will receive a confirmation email and you’ll have space set aside in the gym.

  • What would I need to bring?

You’re coming along for your first session, what should you bring? Any normal gym gear, shorts or track suit bottoms, normal trainers, t-shirt. Whatever you’ve got lying around, don’t go and spend money on new gear. If you’re training at either locations, bring a towel if you want to shower. If you use an inhaler or medication, please bring that along and inform your coach.

  • How do we know this approach to fitness works?

CrossFit has been adopted by the US Navy SEALs, Royal Marines, Canadian Army, US Marines and many other militaries, fire and police departments. People who’s lives depend on their ability to lift, carry, push, pull, run, jump, drag, dig, load, fight etc. People who’s job and working environment are unpredictable.

The Canadian Army adopted CrossFit as their training methodology after testing on their officer intake one year. Half the intake did CrossFit, half did the program produced by the PT Corps aimed at training the candidates to pass the 7 tests at the end of officer training. The CrossFit program was non specialised, in other words focused on all round strength and conditioning, not training for the tests. At the end of the program CrossFit won 5 out of 7 tests and drew on the other two, so the Canadian Army adopted it from the top down.

So you’re thinking “I’m not a Special Forces Ninja”. No problem, your needs only differ by scale not type. You need to be able to run, jump, push, pull, lift, dig, drag etc. You might not be dragging a fully kitted out soldier off a battlefield, or running up mountains but there are plenty of physical challenges you will face in your life that often crop up without warning that could injure you if you are not prepared. Think about something as simple as DIY, you might have to swing a sledge hammer, carry boxes or bags of rubble up or down stairs etc.

  • Do I have to be fit to start?

Not at all. We’ve had athletes start training in their late 70s and early 80s with no problems at all. Chances are you are fitter, stronger, less fragile and more mobile than they were when they started. Personal training allows our expert coaches to tailor what you do, the amount of instruction and work done to a level that is appropriate for you. Our strategy of benchmark, train, retest delivers evidence that the work you are putting in is moving you towards achieving your goals. Training older athletes has demonstrated that you are never too old or too unfit to benefit from consistent, appropriate training. Our bodies react well to being used and badly to being ignored.

  • What are the benefits of CrossFit?

“Having a better level of fitness decreases your risk of death more than controlling other risk factors such as your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. Quite simply, performing constantly varied, functional movements at high intensity (aka CrossFit) will result in increased fitness, and therefore better your chances of living a longer, healthier, more functional life.” – Julie Foucher
