Olympic Weightlifting

Olympic Weightlifting is a sport in which the maximum single lift is established over three attempts. This is achieved using two lifts- the Snatch and the Clean & Jerk- and the amount lifted is combined to produce the highest total.

Olympic Weightlifting tests aspects of human ballistic limits (explosive strength) and are therefore executed faster, with more mobility and a greater range of motion than other lifts. Properly executed, the Olympic lifts are the most powerful thing a human can do. CrossFit uses these lifts to train explosive and functional strength/power.

Whether you are looking to become a competitive Olympic lifter, focus on this aspect of your training to improve your performance in the WOD classes, or as a separate form of strength/power training, CrossFit Vauxhall’s dedicated Olympic Weightlifting classes are for you.

Sauro Gardenal, CrossFit Vauxhall and CrossFit Central London’s Olympic lifting coach also runs a regular Olympic Weightlifting Foundations Seminar, as well as classes throughout the week at both locations.
